| Liz
Sutherland is a painter who makes vivacious studies of the
figure and landscape. Working in oils, acrylics and pastels
on paper and on canvas she reduces a scene down to its essence
and then records this with a bold use of colour and form.
Her
landscapes and cityscapes aim to evoke memories of real
places and with the figure she is interested in portraying
a particular mood through their stance or movement.
Liz
Sutherland completed a B.A. in History of Art before going
on to do a post-graduate painting course at Central St
Martins.
Her
solo exhibitions include the Highgate Literary and Scientific
Institution, 2002; Delibar, 2000; the Groucho Club, 1995
and 1997; the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, 1996; Chocolate
Factory foyer 2006, Wood green, London; and 2007 Group
Show, Highgate Fine Art, London.
