Liz Sutherland is a painter who makes vivacious studies of the figure and landscape. Working in oils, acrylics and pastels on paper and on canvas she reduces a scene down to its essence and then records this with a bold use of colour and form.

Her landscapes and cityscapes aim to evoke memories of real places and with the figure she is interested in portraying a particular mood through their stance or movement.

Liz Sutherland completed a B.A. in History of Art before going on to do a post-graduate painting course at Central St Martins.

Her solo exhibitions include the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution, 2002; Delibar, 2000; the Groucho Club, 1995 and 1997; the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, 1996; Chocolate Factory foyer 2006, Wood green, London; and 2007 Group Show, Highgate Fine Art, London.

She has worked to commission on several occasions supplying paintings to offices in the City of London and painting portraits on a regular basis.

Liz organises and runs art workshops for children and is currently available for freelance work. She has an up to date 2007 CRB check.

Her paternal grandparents were both practising artists in Scotland; Dorothy Johnstone ARSA and D.M. Sutherland RSA. Liz's father was a diplomat and consequently her family have lived all over the world. Liz now lives in Haringey and has a studio in the Chocolate Factory in Wood Green, London.
